Allein Maliksi joins San Mig Coffee
It has been approved.
Allein Maliksi joins San Mig Coffee from Barako Bull in exchange for Wesley Gonzales and Chris Pacana.
The trade is not necessarily exciting, but I like it for San Mig Coffee. Maliksi was robbed of a big college career due to injuries, but when he was healthy, boy was he a headache, especially for the Blue Eagles at that time. It's the same injury woes that are haunting him now and thus preventing him to be like, as he tweeted, Gary David. Yes, he has that potential to be a big scorer, and I guess that's why SMC is taking a risk in spite of the injuries.
They aren't really losing anyone (sorry Wes) since Wes isn't getting much playing time anyway, and Chris Pacana hasn't made the same impact he did in the ABL with the Malaysia Dragons.
I hope this doesn't get in the way of Val Acuna's own breaking out. He did well against RoS in their first game this Governor's Cup, and he's a proven streak shooter, albeit in his last season in UE. So I'm not necessarily complaining about having Yap, Maliksi, and Acuna in the same team.
Now what to do with Alex Mallari...
